Chromatofast components for fast GC

VICI designs and manufactures Chromatofast components for fast GC that can be purchased separately for upgrading your existing GC, or we can build them into a complete custom applied instrument or add-on module for your specific needs. Our components include fast temperature programmers, column/fan modules, and column bundles.

Fast temperature programmers

VICI single channel and multichannel fast temperature programmers (FTPs) are designed for precise temperature programming with rapid heating and cooling of a low mass nickel-wire-wrapped column. Speed, compact size, and low power requirement make these units an ideal component in fast, portable GCs, but they can be easily employed on any GC or analyser.

Our single channel FTP features a Windows-based GUI to facilitate simple creation of temperature profiles with as many as eight states, and allows multiple columns to be tuned with each configuration saved for reloading. The multichannel version FTP, which can be configured with up to four channels, facilitates temperature programming of additional devices, such as transfer lines and inlets.

We understand the importance of optimising physical parameters such as length, ID, phase, film thickness, etc. However, the shortest run times cannot be achieved without the ramp rates attained by resistively heating the column. We offer two options, which can be applied to the column of your choice. Both are designed to be implemented with one of our Fast Temperature Programmers.

Column/fan modules

These compact units feature column, fan, transfer lines, sensors, and connections all in one unit. Choose from a wide selection of column types, sizes, and phases, with several fan options.

• Resistively-heated transfer lines (with low mass 40 gauge “K” thermocouple) eliminate hot and cold spots
• Column, fan, transfer lines, sensors, and connections in one unit
• Choice of high-flow fans for fast cooling

Select a fused silica, metal, or packed column with any phase, in sizes from 1 m x 100 µm to 30 m x 530 µm. Transfer lines can be up to a meter long, and cooling fans are available in a variety of sizes and voltages. The finished module can be specified with a wall-mount bracket, or free-standing, with or without legs.

When purchasing an FTP-200 and specify the components to be assembled into one of these modules, the FTP-200 and module leave the factory configured for plug-and-play implementation.

Column bundles

VICI offers ValcoBond columns wrapped with nickel wire and packaged into a neat insulated bundle, with electrical connections for resistive heating applications.

The shortest possible run times are possible only with the high ramp rates obtained by resistively heating the column. This holds true even if you have made an ideal fast GC column choice in terms of length, ID, phase, film thickness, etc.
