Gas Injection for GC Made Easy
Feb 22 2010
Joint Analytical Systems GmbH (Germany) has recently introduced a new unique and user-friendly easy and exact reproducible Gas Injection for GC Applications; GICU. With GICU it is possible to fill the GC sample loop with well-defined pressures. It is also very easy to calibrate and to run gas samples under the same or similar conditions. GICU can handle different gas samples with different pressures. Arguably its most important benefit is that it is possible to adjust the sample loop pressure from 50mbar to 2000mbar (abs.) with a high-precision controlled vacuum pump. The pumping system can be used automatically with a pre-programmed procedure for flushing and cleaning the gas path of the system which is ideal when handling hazardous samples. The programming procedure is easy to setup and user-friendly and can be incorporated into specific selected GC methods.
The GICU System is standalone and fully controlled by dedicated software : GICU starts the GC run after achieving the set pressure or when the GICU method is complete. As the pressure in the sample loop can be controlled, it is possible to setup multiple calibration levels with just one standard gas. This is a big benefit for detectors that are not linear and require multiple calibration points to establish a confident calibration curve.
