Two Application Notes available from G.A.S (Global Analyser Solutions, the Netherlands) describe the comprehensive analysis of oxygenated components in gasolines. The first note focuses on the improved O-FID analyser, according to ASTM D5599. The gas supply is fully digital now, resulting in a much easier setup procedure, and stable performance. The micromethaniser design has changed, and is completely engineered in metal nowadays, ensuring long lifetime, even at high temperatures. In contrast to the O-FID method, which is based on selective detection, describes the second note the analyses of oxygenates based on multidimensional separation. The components are analysed according to ASTM D4815. In this analyser the oxygenates are separated from the hydrocarbon matrix using a set of two columns.
