In December 1928, the Waukesha Motor Company’s design for a standardised, single-cylinder engine to test gasoline knock began to serve the fuel testing industry. Since then, the home of the renowned CFR® F1/F2 Octane & CFR F5 Cetane engines has been Waukesha and Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA.

CFR octane and cetane testing units have since provided reliable and proven performance to thousands of global users. This reliability has been consistently maintained for over 90 years through a series of well-designed system upgrades and product enhancements.

In 2008, CFR launched its innovative Expandable Control Platform (XCP®). As standard equipment on the CFR F1/F2 and the CFR F5, XCP allows users to capitalise on the benefits of computer-based accuracy and process accountability in fuel testing. XCP Technology provides the measurement accuracy of digital instrumentation, the flexibility and ease-of use of computer guided operation, and the traceable accountability of data recording and reporting.

CFR Engines Inc. is a group of dedicated individuals with both broad and deep knowledge of the petrochemical industry, of engine/combustion technology, of testing and standards, and of product sales/distribution. CFR engineers, service professionals, and skilled craftsmen work every day in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA to uphold the reputation of the veritable CFR name, to bring new innovations and product offerings, and to continuously provide value and confidence in global fuel quality.
