Anton Paar has launched a new intrinsically safe portable density meter solely designed for the petroleum industry – a must-have if samples are flammable or measurements are carried out in explosive atmospheres. DMA 35 Ex Petrol is the only safe option for measurements under such conditions, fully compliant to IP 559 and ASTM D7777 standards.

The new DMA 35 Ex Petrol comes with ATEX marking II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4 and is the only portable density meter on the market certified according to the latest EU Directive 2014/34/EU. Packaged in a robust, splash-proof housing, the instrument is built to withstand the knocks and spills of outdoor use. A special housing material ensures maximum resistance to petroleum samples and the cartridge containing the oscillating U-tube comes with an additional rubber protection in order to ensure the maximum lifetime of the instrument.

DMA 35 Ex Petrol only needs 2 mL of sample for the measurement, and delivers results in less than a minute. It is ready to display the measured result in °API, API Density, or API Gravity for the relevant reference temperature and product group without the need for further calculations, which eliminates potential user errors.

Stored results are wirelessly sent to a computer or printer to ensure perfect documentation of results. The density results are accurate to 0.001 g/cm3 and the influence of viscosity is automatically corrected.
