Anton Paar’s new DMA 4200 M density meter improves, accelerates, and simplifies density measurements of bitumen/asphalt and other petroleum products such as crude oil, fuels, or liquid petroleum gas (LPG). It measures the density at temperatures up to 200 °C and elevated pressures up to 500 bar. The patented Pulsed Excitation Method delivers the most stable density results and facilitates the new and automatic bubble detection feature, FillingCheck™, making it fully compliant with ASTM D4052 and ASTM D5002. For asphalt/bitumen measurements, DMA 4200 M is ASTM D8188 compliant. The density meter delivers results significantly quicker than pycnometers or hydrometers and requires only small amounts of sample and cleaning solvent, which makes it the ideal tool for measuring the density of bitumen/asphalt.
