The search for deeper reservoirs in harsher environments is testing the limits of drilling and completion fluids. Testing requirements now exceed the limits of most traditional instruments. Viscosity measurements are no exception.

Chandler Engineering® (USA), a leader in oil well cementing, viscosity, reservoir analysis and high pressure high temperature (HPHT) instruments, has introduced the Model 7500 HPHT (high-pressure, high-temperature). Viscometer for testing drilling and completion fluids, in accordance with API and ISO standards, at pressures and temperatures up to 30,000 psi / 207 MPa and 600°F / 316°C.

The unit’s compact size and lightweight design are as remarkable as the superb performance it offers. Its shear rate accuracy and magnetically coupled optically encoded torque measurement enable sensitive, precise viscosity measurement in spite of harsh temperatures and pressures.

The Model 7500’s patent-pending design boasts an extremely small, 25 inch wide footprint and a plug and sample cup assembly that weighs only about 12 pounds / 5.4 kg. This efficient design minimizes the amount of valuable laboratory space needed while offering users significantly easier, and therefore safer, handling as compared with the larger, much-heavier sample cup assemblies in competing viscometers.

Unmatched for safety and performance, the Model 7500 is engineered to comply with both US and European safety standards for pressurized and electrical equipment, an industry first. The fully automated Model 7500 HPHT viscometer also features powerful and easy to use data acquisition and analysis software to simplify the performance of API and custom viscosity test schedules. Automatic calibration capability is a standard feature.
