Thermo Fisher Scientific (USA) announces the introduction of a new analytical package design-ed for use in the petroleum industry which delivers accurate and reliable X-ray analysis. The Thermo Scientific ARL Optim’X Sulphur Analyser provides a compre-hensive analytical package covering from ultra-low to high percent sulfur concentrations in a wide range of petro industry products. It is a compact and reliable WDXRF platform configured with dedicated Multichromators for fast analysis and improved sensitivity.

As environmental regulations be-come stricter, the demand for ultra-low sulphur analysis in fuels is on the increase. Regulatory authorities world-wide have set maximum limits for sulphur content in these products and as a result petroleum companies require fast and accurate means of analysing low parts-per-million sulphur levels. The new ARL Optim’X Sulphur Analyser package is a turn-key solution which is pre-configured to meet these specific sulphur analytical testing requirements in light and heavy fuels and oils. Thanks to the innovative Ultra Closely Coupled Optics (UCCOTM), the equival-ent of a 200W analytical performance is generated from 50W X-ray power, without the need for water cooling.
