The year 2015 is a very exciting one for Yokogawa – the global process automation specialists are celebrating their centenary. Backed up by a hundred years of experience and know-how as a developer of process automation technology, Yokogawa will continue to provide solutions, services and products combining the highest possible quality and reliability for industrial automation applications.

There will be four key focuses of the Yokogawa exhibit at this year's Achema in Frankfurt:

Safety & Security

The protection of people, the environment and equipment is a top priority at Yokogawa. Uniting maximum "functional safety" with maximum "IT security" and "plant availability" is a daunting challenge. Yokogawa's Safety & Security solutions reconcile economic and sustainability requirements in day-to-day operations: for instance, with a wireless gas detector based on ISA100 Wireless technology for improved functional safety or remote monitoring for enhanced IT security in process plants.

Resource Efficiency

In an age when raw materials and energy are scarce and expensive, the balance can only be redressed by utilising them more efficiently. Yokogawa's Resource Efficiency solutions are an integral element of VigilantPlant, the company’s holistic automation concept. Yokogawa's Plant Energy Efficiency Management System, for example, enables freely scalable energy management solutions. Yokogawa also plans to unveil a smart burner control solution based on the new TDSL8000 analyser, which simultaneously meets the requirements of Safety Integrity Level 2.

Plant Performance

A chemical plant that is unable to produce or assets that no longer work as intended can have disastrous effects – maximum uptime must therefore be achieved with minimum wear. Measurability and predictability are crucial parameters when it comes to boosting plant productivity. Lifecycle analyses are therefore important, and modern industrial services need to be fast and targeted. Yokogawa will take the opportunity of Achema 2015 to present its on-site calibration services. VPSRemote is a solution for remote monitoring and maintenance within the VigilantPlant Services suite that allows information to be collected and provides the support needed to troubleshoot problems before they have a chance to become critical.

Ease of Interaction

Technology scenarios can meanwhile be anticipated, and the consequences simulated and tested. Yet before devices can communicate with one another using new technologies, the people who operate them must also communicate. In other words, a thorough understanding and mastery of the technologies is vital. Centralised data storage and maintenance with mobile access from any location represents the high road to success for knowledge and information management. CENTUM VP R6, Yokogawa's production and process control station featuring Module Based Automation Engineering, is a platform for managing automation projects efficiently and compliantly with lifecycle demands.
