The ID-200 Series Interface Detectors from PMA Ltd are used for interface measurement and control in all types of liquid/liquid and vapor/liquid separation processes including emulsions and foam. A wide range of models, process connections, and output options are available for the control of a variety of process installations such as Tanks, Decanters, Dehydrators, Desalters, Coalescers, etc. The ID-200 Series advanced control capabilities can be used to automate upset responses, antifoam and demulsifier chemical feed systems, and eliminate cross-contamination of separating phases.
An added benefit of using this innovative control technology is increasing output of the Refinery by Optimizing Separation Control. Most plants are able to surge throughput 5% to 10% by enhancing separation control on the following units: Desalters, Crude & Finished Product Storage Tanks, API Separator, Slop Oil Tanks, Amine Contactors, Sour Water Strippers, Alky Units, Merox Units, Acid Settlers, Coker Blow-Down Drums, Sulfur Units, etc. This amplified throughput translates into millions of additional profits with a lowest investment.
By installing the ID-200 Interface Detectors, a refinery was able to reduce its total HC being dumped to the WWTS by 82% with better interface / separation control (see attached Hydrocarbon Processing article). An 82% reduction in the amount of SLOP OIL being generated is equal to £1,990,424/year in savings/additional profit. Not just for the first single year, but continuing year after year.
