Accurate flow measurement boosts safety and efficiency in gas transport

Monitoring natural gas pipelines and booster compressor stations is essential for ensuring flow efficiency, plant safety, and emissions compliance. As gas moves from production fields and refineries through the network, compressors must combat pressure loss caused by distance, friction, and elevation. Inevitably, some unusable gas must be flared, and accurate reporting of these emissions is required by local, state, and federal authorities in accordance with greenhouse gas regulations.

The ST100A Series Thermal Flow Meter from Fluid Components International (FCI) is widely used in both fixed and skid-mounted flare monitoring systems. Its thermal dispersion technology provides direct mass flow measurement, offering rate and totalised outputs in standard mass units for environmental reporting. With flow ranges from 0.25 to 1000 SFPS (insertion) or 0.0062 to 838 SCFM (inline), and turndown ratios up to 1000:1, the devices exceed the accuracy standards set by the latest international regulatory agencies, such as the US EPA.
