Fuel for thought
The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) has joined a strategic partnership with the Motion + Power Manufacturers Alliance (MPMA) to collaborate in developing and delivering content for this year’s MPMA Fall Technical Meeting (FTM). The Meeting will take place October 5-7, 2026, in Rosemont, IL., USA.
The partnership will enhance MPMA's flagship event, which will still showcase double-blind, peer-reviewed technical papers on the sector’s latest research. Following on from MPMA’s announcement of the expanded format late last year, the event will now feature a second track focused solely on presentation-only submissions, to encourage a higher level of participation from industry professionals and researchers.
Leah Lewis, MPMA’s Vice-President of Education & Events commented, "Our two organisations have a lot of cross-over in the manufacturing space. For us to combine efforts, we have the ability to deliver an enhanced networking event for all involved."
The new track will examine the latest, state-of-the-art developments, case studies, innovative solutions to market challenges, breakthroughs in manufacturing and inspection, and emerging technologies set to shape the bearing and gear industries in the future. Working with STLE will undoubtedly attract more technical submissions on lubrication, which is a crucial subject for gear and bearing manufacturers.
A key highlight of the new partnership will be a session focusing on the findings from STLE's 2026 Emerging Trends Report. This in-depth report is published every three years; it appraises current trends and forecasts upcoming developments that will affect tribology and lubrication engineering across core themes. These presentations will discuss important trends, not just aimed at the STLE community but also to professionals within the gear and bearing industries.
"We are excited to amplify STLE's voice within the broader motion power community at this year's Fall Technical Meeting," said Rebecca Lintow, STLE Executive Director. “Our curated track and invitation for abstract submissions underscore STLE's commitment to advancing technical excellence and fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration.”
The call for participation as well as instructions on how to upload abstracts can be accessed at: 2026 Fall Technical Meeting - American Gear Manufacturers Association.
