Aberdeen-based sand monitoring and management services specialist, SMS - Sand Monitoring Services (UK), announces the appointment of Sarah Baylis as Principal Consultant for the Integrated Project Engineering (IPE) department. This key appointment will expand the company’s service offerings to include fluid management, addressing the key problem of fines migration and re-injection of water. The appointment will also enable the company to widen its operations in West Africa.

Sarah, a qualified geologist with an impressive 31 years experience in organic and inorganic fluid geochemistry, has previously held roles with Petroflux, Axsia Serck Baker Ltd, BP and most recently Baker RDS Ltd. Sarah’s appointment as Principal Consultant for Integrated Projects underpins a period of significant staff growth for SMS in the past 18 months.

Ali Moncur, IPE Manager for SMS, comments, “We are very pleased to welcome Sarah to SMS at this time of expansion. Her extensive experience of fluids management dovetails perfectly with our core sand management and monitoring expertise. This is of particular benefit to SMS and our clients as we have a concerted focus on fines migration and its deleterious effect on water injectivity for production systems. She has a solid understanding of the challenges and greatly enhances our in-house technical SMS.”

Ali concludes, “Our IPE department capability now covers not just sand management, but also petroleum engineering, geology and geochemistry. SMS is soon to announce a new group Business Development Manager who will be focusing their effort on strategic growth. Our aim is to give the client exactly what they need therefore the appointment of Sarah is key element to the company’s growth plan for 2011/12.
