Titan Enterprises (UK) Oval Gear (OG) flowmeters provide an ideal solution for applications that require a highly accurate, compact and lightweight flow measurement device.

Recent applications that have benefited from Titan lightweight oval gear flowmeters includes monitoring hydraulic fluids at the end of a robot arm, measuring sulphite spraying in a vineyard and for medical dosing.

To monitor hydraulic oil flow to a miniature press tool on the end of a robot arm, the flow meter needed to be light and able to withstand 2G shock, 10,000 times a day. Based upon their OG2 flow meter, Titan produced an oval gear positive displacement unit, providing a pulse output over a flow range of from 0.03 to 4.0 litre per minute, using oval gears in PEEK and a lightweight aluminium CNC machined body. The whole unit weighed less than 100 grammes, as required for use on a fast moving robot arm, but was still capable of measuring oil flow to better than 0.5%.

The second 'vineyard' application required a robust, yet lightweight, flow meter for use on handheld portable equipment. Based upon their OG2 design - Titan produced a special thin walled stainless steel body, battery powered flow totaliser to provide accurate sulphite dosing to help control wine fermentation. Similar lightweight OG2 flow meter systems have been supplied for medical dosing applications.
