How effective is your Filtration System?

Both gases and liquids often require effective filtration before being suitable for their intended use. Over time filters will become blocked and filters less efficient. When to change filters? A simple time period is not necessarily the most efficient or cost effective way to do it. An easy solution is to use differential pressure measurement.

Pressure sensors have no moving parts, no regular calibration or maintenance requirements and a long lifetime. This makes them a particularly attractive option for critical and remote applications.

For instance, a water filtration system might have an 8 bar pump upstream. The filter specification might dictate that a pressure drop over the filter of 1.5 bar is time for replacement. So, with a fresh, new filter the output is set to 4 mA and 6.5 bar (8 – 1.5 bar) is set to 20 mA. As the differential pressure rises, the control systems (manual user or PLC) know that the filter requires change.

ESI Technology manufactures a range of differential pressure to cover all applications including hazardous areas, low differential pressures and high accuracy requirements. Custom designs and application advice are also just part of the service.
