Chevron is to use gas flow meters from Able Instruments & Controls for its Gorgon natural gas project in Australia.
The Gorgon development is one of the largest natural gas projects in the world and the contract for the supply of gas flow meters is worth many million dollars.
McCrometer V-Cone Flow Elements have been selected for the development, in sizes from one to 56 inches, and will be used for several purposes, including acid gas removal unit trains, diesel storage and distribution, and fire and gas protection.
Able Instruments & Controls revealed that the gas flow meters have been chosen for their accuracy, reliability and long life in rugged conditions.
The devices also offer low levels of maintenance and small costs.
Chevron recently reported second quarter net income of $ 7.7 Billion (£4.7 billion), an increase from the $5.4 billion seen in the same period in 2010.
Higher crude oil prices are thought to have boosted profits for the
oil industry giant.
