Flow Level Pressure
Robust Pressure Transmitter for Aeronautical Equipment
Sep 14 2009
A new pressure transmitter especially for aeronautical applications has been developed by Baumer’s (Germany). Completely made of stainless steel, the compact device meets the high requirements for the use in aviation operations and can be deployed for the pressure measurement of most gases and liquids.
The transmitter for aeronautic applications is resistant to any harsh conditions due to temperature, altitude, humidity, salt spray, sand and dust, rain, contaminants, vibrations or shocks and offers a high electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The sensor based on thin film technology is able to measure a pressure range from 0 to 250 bar and constructed for an overpressure of up to 315 bar. The burst pressure is at 470 bar. Within a temperature range of -40°C to +120°C, the accuracy is ±1.25% of the measuring span. The transmitter has a 1-5 Volt output signal and a supply voltage of 10 Volt. Weighing less than 125 g, the device is very compact.
Baumer developed the transmitter for aeronautical applications on special request of a French aviation industry supplier. Mounted on board of a helicopter and monitoring the oil pressure in a filtration system, the device acts as a vital safety component. Baumer’s mechanical and electronic products have delivered optimal performances over years, especially in the aerospace industry. The company was granted the aerospace certification EN 9100 two years ago.
