Biofuel analysis, development and application should be subject to an aggressive policy to reduce the demand for fossil fuels, according to a group of industry representatives in the US.
More than 100 member organisations are represented by the team, which claims an "aggressive, comprehensive national advanced biofuels policy" could help to drive the technology forward.
This would see
biofuel analysis supported in laboratories carrying out innovative research work, along with assisted commercialisation of solutions capable of cutting petroleum demand and improving sustainability.
On the morning of October 27th, the team took a letter setting out their suggestions in person to hand to US president Barack Obama at the White House.
Michael McAdams, president of the Advanced Biofuels Association, an industry group of 32 member companies, says: "Our industry must continue to demonstrate our value to leaders in Washington and find a way to deliver more certainty in public policy frameworks."
