The Renewable Fuels Agency (RFA) has published a new version of its carbon calculator, which assists in
biofuel analysis for companies assessing the environmental impact of their energy mix.
Each month, a report can be generated using the tool to allow
biofuel analysis to be submitted to the RFA in accordance with reporting requirements.
All of the countries of origin, feedstocks and biofuel types listed in the organisation's Technical Guidance are covered, with default values automatically incorporated into the calculations performed by the application.
The RFA says: "Our carbon calculator has been debugged and updated and is available for download.
"We're confident that all known faults have been removed."
However, users are invited to contact the RFA with any concerns if bugs or errors are encountered.
The calculator is intended to help determine the emissions savings associated with a batch of fuels, rather than requiring individual statistics to be looked up in the appropriate carbon and sustainability tables.
