With carbon emissions consistently rising, those in charge are forced to act innovatively and urgently to cut greenhouse gases.

Their new scheme attempts to entice the general public to cut emissions by showing them the benefits of a low emission life.

They believe that without this vision of a more environmentally friendly future, individuals will not be as enthusiastic and therefore continue living in a potentially harmful way. Having everyone on the same team will inevitably cut costs, greenhouse gases and promote a more unified country.

The campaign was launched in London's City Hall in an event called Visions for a world you like.

Connie Hedegaard, European Commissioner for Climate Action, lead the event.

She has been reported as saying that the new campaign would be beneficial to the environment and the individual - as people would be healthier if they left their cars at home more often.

In addition, the new scheme will allow people to save a lot of money on energy.

Highlighting the positive benefits are an attempt to get people excited and involved in the new design.

"It's perhaps been a bit too much doom and gloom in the past on climate," one official told the BBC at the launch in London.

"We are now emphasising the need to inspire people," they said.

The website entitled A World You Like has inspirational words, displays pictures and plans to show people what the future could look like if we work together to reduce emissions.

"Explore the interactive landscape and discover how we can improve our health and well-being, ease the burden on our wallets and protect our environment for future generations," the website's welcome page says.

As well as being accessible and easy to understand, the website is also clear in laying out its environmental aims and the ways in which individuals can help to achieve this more positive future.

"The campaign seeks to put practical solutions at the centre of the climate change debate and demonstrate how climate action can increase welfare and bring economic benefits to European citizens," it says.
