The Intelligent Energy - Europe (IEE) scheme could see funding allocated to
biofuel testing projects across the continent.
A total of 44 projects have been shortlisted for a share in €58 million (£49 million) of financing from the EU in the 2010 round of the initiative, the European Commission reveals.
Meanwhile, Tuesday, January 18th, marked the reopening of applications for the 2011 round of the scheme.
The 44 schemes currently on the list were selected from the 349 applications received in summer 2010.
Among them are a number of proposals that could incorporate
biofuel testing, such as the C-LIEGE project.
This focuses on the "last mile" of urban transportation, addressing energy efficiency and fuel consumption in city centres and other high-density population areas.
UrbanBiogas is a similar scheme; however, this works across five European cities to help biogas generated from municipal waste to be added to the natural gas mains distribution grid.
