Biofuels producers and manufacturers in Australia could be about to receive a boost from the country's government, it has been claimed.
The Australian newspaper reports that the authorities are hoping to fast-track a number of initiatives in the sector by designating biofuels facilities as 'critical infrastructure'.
According to the news provider, this would rank them alongside major roads, desalination facilities and gas pipelines in terms of importance.
New South Wales (NSW) in particular is being highlighted for change, with planning minister for the region Tony Kelly telling the publication the state is "well-placed to benefit".
"These new provisions will ensure those wanting to invest in biofuel production in NSW will benefit from an efficient passage through the state's planning system," he explained.
The paper recently reported that aviation leaders in the country are increasingly interested in becoming more creative in terms of biofuels to ensure the nation is a world leader in the sector.
