Spectrometer Specialists Reach Landmark of 30,000 Analysers Sold

Last September, Spectro Analytical Instruments (Germany) produced and delivered spectrometer number 30,000. The Spectrotest mobile metal analyser with the serial tag 30,000 was purchased by Butting GmbH, a stainless steel fabricator and long-time Spectro customer, for
incoming quality control testing.
“We are extremely pleased that we produced and delivered instrument number 30,000 in time for our company`s 30th anniversary in 2009,” explains
Oliver Buechler, Spectro`s Germany sales and service subsidiary Director.
“It`s also very fitting that the Spectrotest carry this special number, since it has been the top selling brand for Spectro from day one nearly 30 years ago, “ adds Buechler. “Over the years, the Spectrotest has remained at the top of its class with continuous improvements in technology, reliability and ease-of-use. It continues today to
maintain its position as the best-selling arc/spark mobile metal analyzer on the market.”
The 30,000th instrument was delivered to Butting GmbH in Knesebeck, near Wolfsburg, Germany. Steeped in tradition, Butting produces
longitudinally welded tubes and tube accessories for the chemical and petrochemical industries as well as for plant engineering.
“To ensure a consistently high product quality, we control the elemental composition of all of the incoming sheet metal and coils, as well as our semi-finished and finished products,” notes Sven Lemken,
Manager of the Materials Laboratory at Butting.
“We’ve employed Spectro instrumentation along the process chain to do this for over 10 years.”
“Right now, we have eight spectrometers in use; seven mobile metal analysers and one stationary metal analyzer in the laboratory,”
he adds. “The new Spectrotest, with the special number, will be used for incoming inspection of sheet metal. Being a mobile spark spectrometer, the Spectrotest allows us to perform reliable
analyses directly at the loading dock when the material is being received”.
