National Safety Council Elects Kent McEelhattan to Board of Directors

Industrial Scientific Corporation (USA) is pleased to announce that Chairman and CEO Kent McElhattan has been elected to the National Safety Council’s Board of Directors. During his two-year term, McElhattan will serve on the Board’s Finance & Audit and Strategic Planning committees.
“Mr. McElhattan’s passion for safety, evident in Industrial Scientific’s mission to preserve human life, brings a level of industry expertise and leadership to the board,” said National Safety Council Chairman Joseph Ucciferro. “His global experience and manufacturing background will be valuable in his board responsibilities.”
Founded in 1913 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1953, the National Safety Council is a nonprofit, international public service organization committed to preventing accidental injuries in the workplace, on roads and highways, and in homes and communities.
As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Industrial Scientific, Mr. McElhattan drives corporate strategy, leading three corporate divisions that were established following the acquisition of Oldham S.A. in
2006. Prior to this position, Kent had served as Chief Executive Officer since the company’s founding in 1985. McElhattan earned a doctorate in science, honoris causa from Clarion University, Clarion, Pa., and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Davis & Elkins College, Elkins, W.Va. He serves on the boards of the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh and the Beard Center of Leadership & Ethics, Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pa. He is the director and finance chair of the Greater Pittsburgh Boy Scouts of America Council and holds memberships in the Society of Mining Engineers, Family Guidance, Inc. and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
