During the World Refining Associationâs Biofuels 2007 conference, held on 29 to 31 October in Vienna and attended by 300 senior executives from the International biofuels industry, the award for the greatest contribution to new developments in the field of biofuels was presented to Bio MCN from the Netherlands.
Lisa Hannant, Director of the World Refining Association, announced âIt is with great pleasure that we are able to present Bio MCN with the World Refining Associationâs (WRA) 2007 Biofuels Technology Innovation Award.
The award has been voted for by the entire biofuels community and is seen as a fitting culmination to their work over the past year.â The award winners, Bio MCN, were eventually chosen from a select group of international biofuels companies due to their innovative solution for converting the increasing remaining amounts of glycerine â a byproduct from biodiesel production â into biomethanol, an important chemical building block. Bio MCN uses this byproduct of biodiesel for the production of a new biofuel, biomethanol.
