Syft Technologies Ltd (New Zealand) designs, develops and markets instruments for the analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as light hydrocarbons, sulphurous taints and tracer compounds.

The core of Syft’s technology is SIFT-MS (Selected Ion Flow Tube Mass Spectrometry). SIFT-MS uses chemical ionization reactions coupled with mass spectrometric detection to rapidly quantify VOCs. VOCs are identified and quantified in real-time from whole-air gas samples, without the need for constant recalibration. Furthermore, the technique delivers real-time, quantitative analysis of VOCs in any humidity.   Syft Technology’s Voice range of instruments’ capabilities include parts-per-trillion detection limits, real-time measurement of C1 – C20 hydrocarbons and sulphur compounds, and the ability to discriminate between isobarics. For mud-logging and micro-seep analysis where real-time results are critical, these instruments are ideal tools.   SIFT-MS can quantify souring compounds to very low concentrations so can be used to monitor taint concentrations at the wellhead or any other point on the process chain. With its real-time analysis, critical decisions can be made as and when required and necessary actions taken immediately.   Direct-sampling SIFT-MS parts per trillion detection limits are ideal for use in real-time, on-site monitoring applications.  SIFT-MS can also be used as an off-line analysis tool, where remote samples can be collected using a range of capture methods including Tedlar bags or thermal desorption tubes.   With offices in NZ, USA and the UK, and an established EU distribution network, Syft’s expert scientists and engineers are focused on delivering world class products and services
