Cetane number is a critical performance and regulatory standard for diesel fuels and in order to achieve meet regulatory standards cetane improvers are often added to base diesel and biodiesel feedstocks. Therefore the need to accurately measure the cetane number of diesel base fuels, blends and formulated fuel products with a high level of precision is critical for many areas of the industry. The greater the precision of the measurement the greater the scope for new product development, optimisation and reduction of product quality giveaway which can lead to significant financial benefits.

This eLearning session will describe instrumentation which has been developed for the measurement of cetane number with industry leading performance and reduced operating costs. Its application to optimising cetane improver addition with subsequent significant cost savings will also be described. - Learn More>>
