OI Analytical’s (USA) new FBA 5320 Laboratory Fluorinated By-products Analyser brochure contains information on a GC system for measurement of total fluorinated contaminants (HF and organofluoride compounds) in propane, butane, and motor fuel alkylate from the HF alkylation process.

Elevated levels of residual fluorinated by-products cause serious problems in refinery operations including corrosion, catalyst poisoning, down-time, and lost production. The FBA 5320 measures total fluoride concentrations in the low parts-per-million (ppm) range to confirm catalytic decomposition and removal of fluorinated by-products.
