LECO’s new Pegasus BT provides users with solutions for a wide range of applications, including gasoline and petroleum analyses falling under ASTM D5769 method requirements. Three fundamental criteria must be met in order to satisfy the requirements for ASTM D5769: sensitivity of 0.01 mass % for 1,4-diethylbenzene, achieving specified ion abundance ratios for key masses of 1,2,3-trimethylbenzene, and calibration linearity for all analytes. The Pegasus® BT easily satisfies these method requirements without spectral skewing, which allows for separation of chromatographically overlapped analytes using mathematical algorithms. It also provides a solution for analysis of the aromatic compounds without saturation of the ion source. Consistent performance of the Pegasus BT with easy, automated data processing provides a clear solution for complete aromatics analysis of finished gasoline.
