Pipeline Measurement Solutions and Leak Detection Software at 25th International Pipeline Pigging & Integrity Management Conference

Feb 23 2013

KROHNE, Inc. (USA) will showcase its pipeline measurement solutions and leak detection software at the 25th International Pipeline Pigging & Integrity Management (PPIM) Conference, to be held February 11-14, 2013, at the Marriott Westchase Hotel, in Houston, Texas, Booth 805. On display at the booth will be the ALTOSONIC V and ALTOSONIC V12 ultrasonic gas flow meters, and KROHNE’s innovative pipeline leak detection system.

KROHNE's ALTOSONIC V was the first ultrasonic flowmeter in the world to gain approval for custody transfer applications under the stringent, internationally recognised OIML Recommendation 117. Also fully compliant with API requirements for liquids metering, the ALTOSONIC V has a measurement uncertainty value of only +/- 0.15 percent of rate, comparable with the best turbine and positive displacement flowmeters. It offers numerous advantages over these other methods, including measurement that is completely independent of viscosity, which is ideal for pipelines with multiple product capacity. With no moving parts, the ALTOSONIC V requires no calibration, reducing operating costs compared to turbine and positive displacement meters

The ALTOSONIC V12, the next generation of ultrasonic gas flow meters for custody transfer applications, is the ideal solution for increasingly accurate flow meters in a world of increasing energy prices. With 12 measuring chords, two of which are dedicated exclusively to diagnostic functions, the ALTOSONIC V12 continuously checks operating status. The diagnostics in the ALTOSONIC V12 can reliably assess deposits, contamination or changes in wall roughness, so maintenance schedules meet actual needs. The ALTOSONIC V12 meter is available in sizes 4-24 inches, an installation length of 3D, and a maximum operating pressure of 2200 psi. It is compatible with commonly used protocols and can be seamlessly integrated into any existing infrastructure.

Finally, KROHNE will be highlighting its PipePatrol Pipeline Leak Detection and Localisation System. The system automatically triggers an alarm whenever a leak is detected, and can track the location of the leak to within 100 meters in a 10 kilometre pipeline. The system is active in stationary conditions, as well as during standstill, start-up, and transient flow conditions, so it is always monitoring for leaks.
