Liquid Level Transmitters Earn IECEx Certification
Feb 14 2014
The magnetostrictive Level Plus Models MG and MR liquid level transmitters, from MTS Sensor Technologie (Germany) have received IECEx Flame Proof certification for use in explosive atmospheres. The IECEx approval for use in hazardous areas is in addition to certifications from ATEX, FM, CSA, and other certifying bodies.
The Model MG level transmitter satisfies the demand for a digital communication interface in the liquid level marketplace, specifically for vessels from 508 mm to 22,000 mm. The transmitter features a 3-in-1 measurement of the product level, interface level, and the temperature. The average temperature can be measured with up to 12 temperature points while utilising a single process opening. This eliminates the need for a separate level and temperature transmitter.
Designed for inventory control, the Model MG is accurate to ±1 mm and provides volume measurement from a 100-point strap table that is loaded into the transmitter. Incorporating the strap table into the transmitter eliminates the need for additional formula coding. Outputs for the Model MG include Modbus, DDA, and FOUNDATION Fieldbus.
The Level Plus Model MR level transmitters also provide a 3-in-1 measurement tool for product level, interface level and temperature measurement. The 4 to 20 mA current output can be used across many applications in the liquid level marketplace, including petrochemical, LPG terminals, biotech and pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, water and wastewater applications.
“The IECEx certification is recognised around the world and it is important because it enables us to meet the regulatory requirements of our global customers,” explained Lee Aiken, Liquid Level Marketing Manager of MTS. “We are very pleased that we will be able to achieve country specific approvals more quickly and cost effectively.”
