IGNIVIUS Brings Intelligent Automation to TOC & TNb Analysis

New combustion-based TOC & TNb analyser combines direct injection, automated NPOC pretreatment and high sample capacity for demanding industrial laboratories. 

Industrial laboratories performing Total Organic Carbon (TOC) analysis often work with challenging sample matrices while facing pressure to increase throughput and maintain consistent analytical performance. IGNIVIUS, the new combustion-based TOC & TNb analyser from Velaris, has been developed to address these day-to-day laboratory challenges. 

Developed through the combined TOC expertise of Skalar and TRACE, IGNIVIUS combines proven combustion technology with intelligent automation, with a strong focus on reliable sample handling, reduced operator intervention and efficient laboratory workflows. 

One of its key features is Direct Injection Technology. Instead of using a flow-through injection principle, the sample is injected directly, resulting in a simpler sample path. For laboratories handling challenging industrial samples, this improves particle handling while reducing the risk of clogging and sample carryover.  

IGNIVIUS also automates an important step in Non-Purgeable Organic Carbon (NPOC) analysis. Its Smart Sparging Technology verifies whether inorganic carbon (IC) has been sufficiently removed during sample pretreatment. If required, the system automatically adjusts the acid addition and sparging time. This enables the pretreatment to adapt to individual samples rather than relying solely on fixed settings, supporting reproducible results across varying sample matrices. 

To improve throughput, NPOC pretreatment and sample measurement can take place in parallel. Integrated inline dilution further reduces manual sample preparation and enables calibration from a single stock solution. Together, these functions help analysts spend less time on repetitive preparation steps while maintaining control over the analytical process. 

For laboratories running larger batches, IGNIVIUS accommodates up to 170 samples using 8 mL vials, allowing extended unattended operation. An LED status indicator gives analysts an immediate visual indication of the instrument status from across the laboratory. 

The analyser supports TC, TIC, TOC, NPOC, POC and DOC measurements. An optional TNb module with chemiluminescence detection (CLD) extends the system to Total Nitrogen analysis. 

For petrochemical, chemical, process and quality-control laboratories, IGNIVIUS provides a new approach to routine TOC & TNb analysis, combining robust sample handling with automation designed to make everyday laboratory operation more efficient.
