Shand & Jurs – part of L & J Technologies (USA) , a leader in tank gauging and tank protection equipment, is pleased to announce that Fibreglass Reinforced Plastic Technology is now available for several tank fittings and valves where corrosion resistance is paramount.

Fibreglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) is designed for superior corrosion resistance in oxidising environments. FRP materials have been used in H2SO4, HCL, EDC, Nitric, caustic and other severe services, and boast a wide range of chemical compatibilities to corrosive fluids. FRP technology is available for the 94060 Conservation Vent 94063 Manhole Cover, 94065 Emergency Vent & Manhole Cover and the 94069 Gauge Hatches.

“FRP materials provide a much higher degree of control and corrosion resistance when working with caustic materials and cost many times less than products made of specialty purpose metals,” Product Manager Michael Landato said.

Several FRP materials are available to meet exact corrosion requirements, including 470 Derakane (Standard), 411 Derakane and Furan (other materials available upon request). These materials allow application to a wide range of products that previously required expensive exotic metal construction to withstand acid and caustic services.
