EDXRF Analyser Provides the Petroleum Industry Standard to Meet ASTM Method D4294
Jun 03 2015
HORIBA Scientific (USA), provides the petroleum industry standard for meeting ASTM Method D4294 for Sulphur in Petroleum and Petroleum Products by EDXRF. HORIBA’s SLFA-2100/2800 Analysers are a cornerstone in laboratories that test for sulphur in petroleum products at companies around the world. It meets JIS K2541, JIS B7995 (Japan), ISO 8754 and ASTM D4294 (USA).
The detrimental effects from sulphur caused regulators to lower its allowable levels in fuels. In 2007, the US EPA limited sulfur in gasoline to an average of 30 ppm with a cap of 80 ppm. In conjunction with these regulations, EPA stipulated specific ASTM sulphur test methods for reporting compliance with the restrictions. ASTM D4294 is one of the EDXRF method specified for these restriction levels meeting the analysis needs for sulphur concentrations from 16 mg/kg to 4.6 wt% in fuel.
The SLFA-2100/2800 is a 6th generation sulphur-in-oil analyser family depended on to meet the demanding needs of measuring hundreds to thousands of samples of crude oil, fuel oil and other fuels. Its fast and accurate EDXRF measurement technique complies with the ASTM D4294 method, either in the lab or in the field. The SLFA-2100 is for single samples. The SLFA-2800 is engineered to measure up to eight unattended samples with its automated turntable.
“Many of our testing lab customers have a SLFA-2100/2800 running virtually 24/7,” said Mr. Allen Bickel, SLFA Products Sales Manager for the Americas. “The precise measurements, multiple calibrations, reliability and ease-of-use make it a clear choice for managers and techs alike.”
With an LOD of 5 ppm and a wide measurement range of 0-9.999%, HORIBA's high sensitivity SLFA-2100/2800 analysers make quick, accurate measurements of petroleum fuel samples from very low to high sulphur concentrations. It can handle products all the way from gasoline to heavy fuel oils. Its large, easy-to-read LCD screen, simple function keys, alphanumeric keypad and other features make the SLFA-2100/2800 series easy to use.
