Horiba SLFA-UV21 A Sulphur in Oil Analyser Achieves a Detection Limit of 30 ppb
Jan 19 2011
The new international regulations for low sulphur content in refined petroleum products such as gasoline or diesel are more and more demanding and the levels are always pushing lower. It has already been agreed that concentrations have to be less than 10 ppm and even less than 5 ppm in the future. Horiba Scientific offers the appropriate solution with the SLFA-UV21A.
The SLFA-UV21A uses unique features such as a fouraxes auto-sampler that allows the use of a horizontal combustion tube, automatic back flushing rinse and programmable tube cleaning. The exclusive reflected type filter (RTF) maintains 75% of the UV excitation power compared to penetrated type filter designs, which only pass 15%, resulting in higher sensitivity.
The SLFA-UV21 A is based on the principle of combustion of a fixed volume of sample in a tubular resistance furnace at 1100°C, with real time combustion control and optimisation. UV Fluorescence is used to analyse the SO2 gas produced during combustion. The SLFA-UV21 A is compliant with ASTM D-5453 as well as ISO 20846.
