Oct 12 2020
Oxford Instruments plc and Bruker Corporation have announced that they have reached a settlement on a patent related issue with Bruker’s Cube product. The agreement licences Bruker the Oxford Instruments patents relating to the design of low noise charge sensitive amplifiers (CSAs) of which Cube is an example.
These CSAs, are key components in a range of high-performance scientific instrumentation, including EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) systems for microanalysis in electron microscopes and hand held and benchtop XRF (X-ray Fluorescence) systems. Under the terms the agreement, Bruker will have access to the Oxford Instruments patents and continue to manufacture and market its Cube CSA under licence from Oxford Instruments. All other terms of the settlement are not being made public.
Dr Ian Wilcock, Oxford Instruments’ Managing Director for NanoAnalysis said, “We are pleased to have resolved this matter and enter into this agreement with Bruker. The IP we have generated through our focused investment in our R&D has allowed us to develop ground-breaking equipment that benefits the world around us. We are committed to supporting our customers in addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges and welcome the opportunity to work with companies, where it is commercially viable, to allow more to benefit from our advanced technological capabilities.”
