Specialty gases for a range of measurement tasks for the hydrocarbon processing sectors

Linde provides high-quality specialty gases and associated equipment that supports various analytical and monitoring tasks within the fuel and petrochemical industries, including quality control, laboratory analysis, environmental monitoring, pilot plant projects and health and safety monitoring.

Linde’s HiQ® specialty gases have become an essential component in many of these petrochemical processes. For example, pure gases, including synthetic air, helium, hydrogen and nitrogen, are required to zero and purge analytical equipment. Multi-component hydrocarbon blends are used in combination with process analysers for process verification. Research-grade gases and calibration gas mixtures facilitate quality control, lab-based analysis and pilot plant projects. To verify liquefied natural gas, ISO-accredited natural gas standards are needed, while methane/argon gas mixtures (P5 or P10) are necessary for some other applications.

Linde’s ECOCYL® portable gas package is a safe, quick, and easy option for health and safety monitoring.  ECOCYL® is widely used for calibrating perimeter gas monitors and detectors used in confined spaces. In addition, HiQ® specialty equipment products, including BASELINE® and REDLINE® cylinder regulators and gas supply panels control gas cylinder pressures while sustaining the original level of gas purity.

For monitoring pollution levels in air, water and soil, a variety of individual calibration standards are available for measuring nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX) emissions. Linde’s HiQ® calibration mixtures offer low-level reactive calibration with flat-line stability. Linde also produces dedicated environmental mixtures to comply with the criteria of global regulatory organisations. Linde’s ISO-accredited calibration gas mixtures are also used to ensure precision and traceability to support traceability reports and emission trading verification.
