Anton Paar’s SVM 4001 is the ideal viscometer for the lubricant industry. This innovative instrument is specifically optimised to meet the requirements of the lubricant industry, offering highly accurate viscosity measurement and viscosity index (VI) calculation.

One of the most important parameters for base and lube oils is kinematic viscosity and viscosity index. Anton Paar SVM 4001 offers a perfect solution for viscosity measurement at two temperatures and for VI calculation. The dual viscosity/density cell of the SVM 4001 enables simultaneous measurements at two individual temperatures. It delivers measurements between 15°C and 100°C for sample viscosities ranging from 0.2 mm²/s to 30,000 mm²/s, all within just one measuring cell, making it an ideal tool for the lubricant industry.

The Anton Paar SVM 4001 also offers fast VI determination, which is compliant with ASTM D2270 using the lowest sample volume on the market - just 2.5 mL. The highly accurate results comply with ASTM D7042. The device can be combined with different heated or non-heated Autosampler options, ranging from the single-syringe sampler to the 71-position carousel sampler - all with automatic cleaning.

With its tried-and-tested SVM test principle and a host of innovative features, the Anton Paar SVM 4001 is the ideal viscometer for the lubricant industry.
