Testing Renewable Fuels and Environmentally Friendly Lubricants

The importance of investigating alternative resources to substitute fuels derived from fossil resources has grown significantly in the last decades. The trend is being further reinforced by rapidly decreasing geological oil reserves, global warming, and increased environmental awareness. All these factors require a change of today’s energy mix, ultimately leading to a more sustainable future.

For storage, transport, and handling of flammable or combustible liquids, such as fuels, the flash point is one of the most important parameters in terms of safety. The flash point is used to define the hazard classification of liquids. Not surprisingly, flash point values are also part of fuel product specifications. Depending on the product, e.g. jet fuel or diesel, different methods are prescribed to determine the flash point.

Anton Paar’s PMA 500, PMA 300, ABA 500, ABA 300 and CLA 5 are perfectly suited for measuring the flash point of renewable fuels and environmentally acceptable lubricants.

Our next-generation flash point tester can save you time and costs with its unique features. For example, the patented ceramic coated electric igniter system of the PMA 500, PMA 300, ABA 500, and ABA 300 have a 10-time longer lifetime than other igniters on the market and yet are less expensive. Thus, it saves igniter costs and maintenance time. Our PMA 500 is equipped with an efficient cooling system that easily saves 10 % of your measurement time, increasing the sample throughput while ABA 500 on the other hand can be operated with and without an external chiller, depending on the flash point temperature – use an external chiller for flash point temperatures below 10 °C only. The two-in-one, air- and liquid-supported Peltier System with our ABA 500 will provide you excellent flexibility.

All our flash point testers deliver precise results according to given standard methods, are intuitive to use, and easy to clean – saving time before, during, and after a measurement.
