Flow Level Pressure
Small and highly accurate pressure sensor offers an ideal solution for lubrication quality monitoring
Jun 28 2021
A new pressure sensor has been launched by wenglor sensoric GmbH that overcomes many of the problems of installation in areas where it is difficult to fit such a device because of lack of space. The weFlux²micro pressure sensor has a diameter of 14 mms and can therefore be installed in cramped and confined spaces that have been impossible up until now. With a high level of performance packed in to a tiny package, this pressure sensor can perform measurements between – 1 to 25 bar in previously inaccessible applications such as lubrication bearings and hydraulic clamping systems
This pressure sensor weighs in at a mere 13 grammes, has an M5 thread process connection and is only 22 mms in height. It has been designed to operate in very small spaces in which it was impossible previously to fit a pressure sensor. These sensors can even operate successfully on moving parts, such as robotic arms.
A high performance pressure sensor with rugged, IP68 stainless steel casing
The weFlux²micro pressure sensor has a margin of error lower than 0.5% and responds within a single millisecond. This compact unit is housed in a 316L stainless steel casing, with a IP68 rating, so it can function in the harshest of industrial environments and withstand aggressive chemicals. With an analogue output signal of 4 – 20 mA, operators can easily integrate this versatile pressure sensor into existing systems. The sensor also features positive locking segmented cable compression to alleviate the problems of mechanical tensile or rotational loads.
The smallest of pressure sensors offers versatility in a host of applications
The small size of this pressure sensor is ideal for monitoring lubrication systems for gears, chains, ball bearings and linear guides in which the weFlux²micro records the necessary parameters for accurate lubricant levels. This tiny pressure sensor also offers a perfect solution for monitoring pressure cylinders in hydraulic or pneumatic clamping systems, where pressure changes in the interior must be detected with great accuracy. According to Lars Rieken, Project Manager at wenglor sensoric, “There is practically no space in these clamping systems for machine tools. Nevertheless, our integrated sensor ensures precise measurement in the medium. Due to its low dead weight, these systems can also be mounted on robot arms, another plus.”
