Air Monitoring
What is in Your Air?
Mar 23 2010
A question that Bertin Technologies (France) can now easily answer with a new generation of air sampler designed to capture biological particles: the Coriolis®μ. It relies on a cyclonic patented technology to concentrate airborne particles into a liquid media.
The liquid sample delivered gives access to cultivable, viable and non cultivable flora thanks to its compatibility with a large range of analysis including microbiology, immuno-assays, PCR, flow cytometry...
Giving accurate and reliable results in only few hours, it has been validated for indoor and outdoor air monitoring and it can efficiently collect airborne pollens, bacteria, spores, molds and even airborne viruses…
According to ISO 14698 recommendations, Coriolis®μ is a perfect solution for the collection of bio-particles as far as it has a d50 (the particle diameter at which the sampler efficiency is less than 50%) easily below 0,5μm (HPA report n°41/08). A high air flow rate (up to 300L/min) can be set to collect a representative sample and improve the probability of detecting a large panel of micro-organisms even if a low concentration is in the air. The collection efficiency has been tested by Pfizer US, and results have been published their results during the 4th Annual Global Conference on Pharmaceutical Microbiology (PDA) of October 2009.
