Solving Petroleum Industry Problems with Combustion Ion Chromatography
Combustion ion chromatography (CIC) provides a powerful means of measuring halides in a variety of samples. This webinar will cover the theory and application of CIC. A classic application of CIC in refining – the determination of halide in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) – will be highlighted. Additional applications will cover gaseous, liquid, and solid sample types. Problems CIC helps solve include corrosion, product purity, catalyst poisoning, and material composition. The webinar not only provides the novice with basic information about the technique, it also includes additional examples to give an experienced CIC user ideas on how to solve problems for their industry.
Speakers
Anna Wolna, Ph. D. (Phillips 66)
Anna started with Analytical Sciences and is currently on special assignment at the Phillips 66 Sweeny Refinery. Her current position allows Anna to use her skills from R&D to solve problems while learning first-hand about refining operations.
Jim Thompsen, Ph. D (Phillips 66)
Jim has been solving problems with ion chromatography in the chemical and petroleum areas for over 30 years. While continuing to develop new research methods, Jim also advises Analytical Sciences and helps connect analytical information to corporate needs thus providing maximum value to the company.
