Meet the Multiwave 7101/7301/7501 series

With the introduction of the Multiwave 7101/7301/7501 series, Anton Paar lets customers select the perfect PDC-based (pressurised digestion cavity) microwave digestion system for their analytical tasks with minimum running costs and space requirements.

Broad reaction parameters

Reaction parameters of up to 300°C and 199 bar ensure complete digestions, from routine samples to the most demanding ones. To further customise their microwave digestion systems, operators can select from seven different racks accommodating vials ranging from 5 mL to 80 mL. This allows acid digestion of up to 4 g per position. Vials made from borosilicate glass (disposable, for routine applications), quartz (with low blank values for low detection limits), and PTFE-TFM (for digestions using hydrofluoric acid and determination of Si) as well as sealed quartz vessels (for special applications, such as determination of extremely volatile analytes) are available.

Multiwave 7301

Multiwave 7301 is a space-saving microwave digestion system that is easy to use and capable of digesting the most challenging samples at the same time. From water cooling to a 9” touchscreen, all is included in this autoclave-like device, which has the smallest footprint for an instrument of its kind. A smart light, e-mail notifications, and remote monitoring of digestion reactions via VNC let users stay up to date with their sample preparation tasks.

Compliance, guaranteed

Multiwave 7301 complies with all standard methods for acid digestion, which already come with the instrument’s software. The large selection of vials and racks mentioned above helps to optimise sample throughput. Powerful stirring (optional) is key when floating samples have to be digested (e.g., petrochemical or polymer samples). Low residual carbon content, for organic matrices such as food or environmental samples and low acid use as well, facilitate elemental analysis and keep running costs low.

With Multiwave 7301, Anton Paar offers a reliable, powerful, and fully GMP-compliant system for sample preparation for the determination of elemental impurities according to all current regulatory requirements (ICH, USP, Ph. Eur.). The instrument provides FDA 21CFR Part 11-conform software and meaningful pharmaceutical qualification documentation according to USP <1058> and GAMP 5.

Multiwave 7501

Multiwave 7501 has been designed for ultimate corrosion resistance and is the equipment of choice if high amounts of HCl or aqua regia are used as digesting agents on a regular basis. Upgraded parts and extended automated procedures for cleaning enhance the longevity of this microwave digestion system. Multiwave 7501, like all Anton Paar instruments, comes with a three-year warranty.

A capable system like this will open up new pathways for analytical chemistry, for example, by replacing cumbersome methods like fusion with inorganic salts for the sample preparation of mining samples. At the same time, non-spectral interferences in the subsequent ICP-OES analysis are reduced. Another challenging application is the determination of platinum group metals (PGMs), very valuable and industrially highly useful elements, including palladium, rhodium, osmium, ruthenium, or iridium. Their digestion is very challenging, requiring high temperatures, long reaction times, and highly corrosive conditions. A challenge that Multiwave 7501 can handle.

Multiwave 7101

Multiwave 7101 is a smart PDC-based microwave digestion system, which works with an external circulation cooler, at an attractive price-performance ratio. Small and thin-walled budget-friendly vials and low acid consumption further reduce the cost per sample.

No compromises have been made when it comes to safety or user-friendliness. The streamlined, software-guided workflows for loading, unloading, and cleaning of the instrument enhance ease of use. The small, lightweight racks and vials can be easily carried and transferred between the fume hood and the instrument. Thanks to numerous other safety features, like the liner lift and a drip cup that serves as cover during transportation, operators can be sure to perform high-pressure, high-temperature digestion protocols with peace of mind.

This makes Multiwave 7101 a great choice for institutions like universities or other shared lab facilities, thanks to straightforward handling and little training effort for new users.
