scale testing. The fully automated tristimulus filter colorimeter Minicol was specifically designed to offer precise colour measurement of liquid samples at an affordable price. Minicol is used for colour testing especially in the petroleum industry.
Minicol comes factory calibrated to measure the colour of liquid petroleum products according to all major colour scales such as ASTM Colour (ASTM D6045, equivalent ASTM D1500 and DIN ISO 2049), Saybolt Colour (ASTM D6045, equivalent ASTM D156), Platinum-Cobalt (Pt-Co) Colour (ASTM D5386, ASTM D1209, ASTM D1686) and CIE Values (ASTM E308)
The Minicol principle for colour testing is simple and smart: A sample is poured into the glass sample container and the container is placed into the light path of the automatic instrument. Light passes through a series of standard filters and is then split into two paths, a sample path and a control path, used to compensate for any color or intensity drift of the source. CIE tristimulus values of the sample in question are determined by integration over selected illuminants. These are then converted by the appropriate algorithm into a value on the Saybolt or an ASTM colour scale.
Operation is done easily, due to intuitive graphics display and menu
navigation. Minicol combines the key qualities of all Grabner Instruments products: It is a smart solution, packed in a small instrument, producing great results.
