Mass production begins for state-of-the-art air quality monitor

Aug 07 2018

EarthSense has announced that its state-of-the-art Zephyr air quality monitor, an industry-first in small sensor technology with replaceable cartridge system, will go into mass production. The expertly designed Zephyr monitor is a multi-sensor platform which samples the air and provides accurate measurements of air pollution, such as nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and ozone (O3), from a range of pollution sources.

The volume production of the Zephyr small sensor helps establish EarthSense as a leading global player in the air quality field, meeting the increased industry demand for reliable air quality monitors and providing innovative data solutions to help the world understand and solve its air quality issues.

Marking a significant production milestone, mass manufacture of the Zephyr with leading contract electronic manufacturers will allow the completion of a larger volume of sensors at a quicker turnaround. Reduced unit costs will be passed on to the customer making the Zephyr one of the best value, high performance small form sensor available on the market.

Volume production of the Zephyr will offer customers such as local councils, corporate and research bodies, car manufacturers, planning and policy makers the ability to integrate reliable air quality data into their projects seamlessly and effectively. Mass manufacture of the Zephyr complements the successful growth of the company in recent months and highlights its reputation for technical excellence in air quality services in the UK and abroad.

Users of Zephyr-based clean air solutions will experience the benefit of cutting-edge academic knowledge along with versatile developmental features. Born of fifteen years of air quality research at the University of Leicester, the Zephyr has a unique replaceable cartridge system that measures air pollutants such as NO2, O3, as well as background humidity and temperature.

The Zephyr also has additional options for measuring particulate matter, sulphur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), andhydrogen sulphide (H2S) allowing a range of combinations to be achieved for optimal measurements. The simple and attractive Zephyr casing is compact, lightweight and portable, and can be operated in static or mobile mode, with easy access via a standard API protocol providing a superior and intuitive user experience.

“We are committed to broadening the accessibility of our products and services, now is the time for EarthSense to deliver mass deployment of the Zephyr sensor as well as keeping a focus on providing quality data going forward,” says Managing Director Tom Hall. “We are working with a fantastic team of suppliers who fit seamlessly with the culture of our business and clean air ethos.”
