The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has warned that the government is likely to miss all of its targets to reduce emissions.

It said that due to a lack of detailed information about their plans, the government damaged business confidence and has failed on 12 out of 13 key indicators.

Only one low-carbon indicator, nuclear power, showed progress, while the government failed to make any progress towards its aim to increase industry energy efficiency and reduce emissions on existing buildings.

"One year on from pledging to be the 'greenest government ever', the coalition has still not delivered the policy landscape needed to ensure we meet tough emissions targets," said Katja Hall, the CBI's chief policy director.

She went on to say that the government had lacked clarity over many of its plans, taken "sudden and unexpected" shifts in policy and failed to match its ambitions to progress.

Meanwhile universities across the UK have failed to meet targets to reduce emissions and increase efficiency.
