Multiple Process Stream Monitoring by One Single Analyser
Dec 19 2011
On-line and continuous monitoring of the product quality in refinery process streams is a major requirement to ensure effective process control and optimised capacity and product yield.
A sophisticated solution is provided by Modcon’s (Israel) BEACON-3000 Near Infrared (NIR) process analyser. This technology enables the facility to connect of up to 8 process stream sensors, using no electricity and containing no moving parts, to a single main analyser situated in the control room. The use of standard telecommunication fibre optics has resulted in multiple analysers installations in petroleum industries worldwide, which have not required any manual model updates during the last five years.
The incorporated ANACON software centralises all analytical results on single user friendly display. The included FREETUNE software installed on the analyser compares analyser readings with the laboratory results and enables the automatic correction of systematic disagreement between results. ANACON provides ongoing and on-line validation of the analysers, conducted in compliance with ASTM D3764. Process analyser results are continuously correlated and validated against laboratory test-results obtained by standardised methods, which guarantee analytical results being of the maximum available accuracy.
Effective on-line monitoring of the quality of distillates, refinery products streams and blending processes prevents the production of off-spec or borderline materials, which minimises the need for unnecessary reprocessing.
