Process GC Gas Analysis for Blending Terminals and Pipelines

Jul 31 2015

BARTEC BENKE’s (Germany) Modular Gas Analyser MGAnano VG-4 is used in blending terminals to optimise operation performance and efficiency. It is also used to analyse liquefied gas in pipelines and at terminal blending for example: Wobbe Index, calorific values and relative density alterations through N2 ballasting, ballasting through other gases, NGL extraction from LNG.

Gas chromatography (GC) is a common method used in analytical chemistry for separating and analysing compounds that can be vapourised without decomposition. Typically the method is used to separate different analytes of a mixture and to determine their concentrations. Based upon these concentrations other parameters of a mixture can be calculated such as calorific values, Wobbe Index, theoretical vapour pressure etc.

The MGAnano VG-4 encapsulates Modular packaged Micro-GC MEMS technology, liquid sample handling and integrated automatic evaporation and mixing units. The unit’s short cycle times, accuracy and reliability have made the MGAnano VG-4 a trusted system within the oil and gas refining industry.
