$27 MILLION INVESTMENT IN NEW TANK RADAR TECHNOLOGY CENTRE

Feb 27 2015

Emerson Process Management has started construction of a new USD 27 million office and manufacturing centre in Gothenburg, Sweden. The new facility is part of Emerson’s ongoing commitment to expand its manufacturing operations and increase the availability of local support, training and services for its customers.

“This new facility will provide users of our tank gauging and tank management products within the terminals, processing and shipping industries, with faster deliveries and an enhanced range of services and support,” said Rasmus Johansson, ‎managing director of Emerson’s Rosemount Tank Radar business. “Gothenburg has been the centre of excellence for our tank radar-based products for many years and this investment demonstrates our continuing commitment to our growing number of customers.”

The new facility will comprise two buildings with a total area of approximately 17,000 m2 including offices, training and conference facilities, customer inspection and testing areas, and an extensive production area. The facility will be built in accordance with Sweden’s Green Building standard and will support a range of services including sales and marketing, engineering and development, and production.

“The new building provides more flexible and efficient production facilities and it offers opportunities for expansion as demand warrants,” said Johansson. “The facility is being designed to meet the latest regulations for air freight which, combined with its proximity to a major international airport, will help to speed the delivery of customer orders.”

The company held a groundbreaking ceremony in December 2014 which was attended by senior Emerson executives and local dignitaries. These included Ed Monser, president and COO of Emerson, Maria Kornevik Jakobsson, chairman of the municipal council in Härryda and Stephan Woodbridge, regional manager for Veidekke, the company constructing the new building.

The new facility in the Härryda municipality to the east of Gothenburg will replace Emerson’s existing manufacturing unit in Gamlestadsvägen. When it is opened in January 2016, it will accommodate about 420 employees.
