New Precision Gas Control Instrumentation for Harsh Environments Increases Performance, Lowers Costs
Feb 03 2015
A new series of precision gas control components designed to increase performance and lower equipment costs in harsh environments has been introduced by AURA Controls (USA), world leader in pressure and process control technologies.
Employing new material produced in a proprietary process, the LumiShield series of products provides significantly better corrosive resistance and chemical inertness than that provided by traditional metals such as stainless steel and exotic alloys. Produced by bonding a proprietary chemical blend including carbon and silicon to the crystal structure of stainless steel, the material becomes part of the base metal, unlike traditional performance coatings and passivation processes.
The extremely flexible, chemically inert, and wear-resistant material provides more than 200 times the corrosion resistance of stainless steel and four times that of exotic alloys in both highly caustic and acidic applications. The fully inert surface will not absorb moisture or active compounds, reducing cycle times and improving accuracy in critical applications in the oil/gas, petrochemical, power generation, biotech, pharmaceutical, and aerospace industries.
Available in AURA’s fully configurable line of pressure and flow control equipment, LumiShield increases component longevity and reduces product contamination in both acidic and caustic systems up to 5500 psig and over 400°F. Each LumiShield product is assembled in a Class 100 cleanroom, 100% helium leak-checked, and fully flow- and function-tested to ensure the highest levels of accuracy and durability available.
